Job Title: Piping Material Specialist Location: Vadodara (Multiple sites/pan-India projects) Industry: Chemical / Specialty Chemical / Food Processing / FMCG Experience: 4 to 6+ years in relevant industry domains Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Piping Material Specialist to join our engineering and procurement team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piping material selection, specification development, procurement support, and installation expertise, particularly in Chemical, Specialty Chemical, and Food/FMCG industry environments . The role involves interfacing with multidisciplinary teams for the successful delivery of piping systems compliant with safety, regulatory, and operational standards. Key Responsibilities: Develop and review piping material specifications (PMS) , valve specifications, and piping class standards for various fluid services. Select appropriate materials (metallic and non-metallic) for piping systems considering process fluids, temperature, pressure, corrosion, and cleanliness (esp. for food & chemical environments). Review and approve P&IDs , material requisitions (MR), and technical bid evaluations (TBE). Ensure piping components (pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, gaskets, fasteners) conform to relevant ASME, ASTM, IS, API, DIN, and ISO standards . Interface with process, mechanical, and procurement teams to ensure correct material selection and timely delivery. Evaluate vendors and support procurement in the technical clarification and inspection process. Guide and support site execution teams with material handling, storage, and erection practices as per specifications. Address and resolve material compatibility and corrosion issues in the chemical and food-grade environments. Collaborate with QA/QC teams for inspection test plans (ITP) and review of material test certificates (MTC). Contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) for material failure investigations and corrective action plans. Qualifications & Skills: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or related discipline. Minimum 4-6 years of experience in piping engineering and materials within the Chemical, Specialty Chemical, Food, or FMCG industries . Strong knowledge of corrosion-resistant materials (SS316L, duplex, etc.) , food-grade piping standards , and hazardous chemical compatibility . Familiarity with industry codes : ASME B31.3, IS 1239/3589, ASTM standards, API standards, and Indian Factory Act guidelines. Hands-on experience with SAP/MM , AutoCAD/SmartPlant , and preferred. Good communication, analytical, and coordination skills for interfacing with multidisciplinary teams. Preferred Certifications: NACE/AMPP Certification (for corrosion knowledge) ASME B31.3 Training or Certification ISO 9001:2015 awareness for QA systems Role & responsibilities
