Job Title: Cashier Location: Gunpowder, Assagao, Goa Reports to: Proprietor, Independent Consultant, Accountant Working Relationship: Restaurant Manager, Bar Manager, Executive Chef, HR Manager, Storeroom Manager, Facilities Supervisor Employment Type: Full-Time Summary: We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team at Gunpowder. This role is primarily responsible for managing the billing and cash-handling operations of the restaurant, ensuring smooth and accurate transaction processing. The ideal candidate will also support the accounts department with documentation, filing, and report-related tasks. Prior experience in a similar hospitality setting is preferred. Responsibilities: Primary Duties – Cashier Operations: Manage the restaurant’s billing systems, including taking orders over the counter, generating accurate bills, processing payments, and issuing receipts. Handle all modes of payments including UPI, credit/debit cards, and cash, ensuring accurate daily cash counts and reconciliation. Maintain a float, perform daily close-outs, and prepare handover reports for the accounts team. Ensure all transaction data is entered and recorded accurately in the billing software and POS system. Communicate with the floor and service staff to ensure billing accuracy and timely service. Maintain high standards of professionalism and customer interaction at the cashier counter. Secondary Duties – Accounting Support: Assist the accountant in organizing and maintaining financial records and filing systems (both digital and physical). Help prepare daily sales summaries, shift reports, and other internal financial documentation. Support the reconciliation of payment receipts against system reports. Coordinate with vendors and internal departments for invoice collection and documentation. Assist with other clerical or report-generation tasks as assigned by the accountant or management. Qualifications: Minimum HSSC (12th) pass; a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or a related field is an advantage. Prior experience as a cashier in a restaurant or retail environment is highly preferred. Basic understanding of accounting or willingness to learn. Familiarity with POS and billing systems; knowledge of Petpooja POS is a strong advantage. Basic knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage time independently. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evening and weekend shifts as part of the role. Good communication skills in English and at least one local language. Knowledge of Tally will be a strong advantage. Proper document handling and filing discipline is essential, both in physical and digital formats.
