Procuring ferrous/non-ferrous metals, ferro alloys, fluxes, refractories, fuels, lubes, consumables, MRO, and engineering materials. Managing total contracts linked with monthly steel production. Supplier management: contracts, business process setup, negotiations, delivery, quality matrix management. Offshore material supply management focusing on inventory, lead time, currency fluctuation, quality, and legal issues. Scheduling offshore shipments for critical materials (refractories, major machinery, spares, consumables). Expertise in procurement of mining spares and services (support materials, cables, oil/lubricants, explosives, mill balls, pump spares, manpower). Expertise in procurement of spares for trackless equipment. Proficient in SAP MM module. Warehouse and vendor management. Manpower management and contract administration. Cost optimization and outbound logistics. Implementing quality systems like TS16949, TPM. Ensuring development and implementation of effective policies and procedures. Experience in sales of primary and secondary products; handling customer complaints. Designing rolling process parameters and steel chemistry as per product requirements. Metallurgical and mechanical testing. Managing raw materials requirements across multiple plants. Negotiating and placing POs & LOIs, processing LCs with banks, mediating issues, and following up on deliveries. Ensuring complete purchase requisitions: quotations, comparison charts, negotiation. Vendor development to improve quality, rates, and delivery schedules. Purchasing electrical/control panels, consumables, fasteners, bearings, material handling, telecom systems, importing from US and Europe. Maintaining purchase budgets via cost competitiveness and landed cost reduction. Auditing supplier invoices and coordinating payments with accounts. Handling import processes: quotation, ordering, payment, pickup, delivery. New Initiatives: Led organizational transformation to a strategic procurement model emphasizing collaborative sourcing, formalized processes, and efficient contract transactions. Inventory Control, Supply Chain Management: Planning and procuring materials per production plan. Defining min/max inventory levels using ABC analysis. Scheduling and tracking material receipt. Ensuring inventory within preset levels (approx. 1600 part types). Consumption trend analysis and future forecasting. Coordination with PPC, Production, Stores, RI, and QA. Liaising with accounts for supplier payments. Preparing and presenting MIS and management review reports. SQI Activities / Supplier Upgradation: Monitoring supplier quality, delivery, rating, and grading. Driving CAPA for B and C grade suppliers. Coordinating ISO/TS certifications for suppliers. Implementing Kaizen, 5S, Poka Yoke, PPAP at supplier end. Conducting periodic system audits for quality. System Management / Quality Compliance: Acting as single point contact with IT for Vendor Development and SCM teams. Coordinating monthly supplier quality and delivery reviews. Overseeing adherence to quality standards throughout contract lifecycle. Core team member for TS 16949 implementation. Core Competencies: Experience across volume scales, overseas suppliers, and diverse commodities (casting, forging, machining, sheet metal, die casting, copper, rubber, plastic).
