Description
The Cable Jointer role involves being responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical or telecommunication cables in Oman. You will work with both high- and low-voltage cables, ensuring they are safely joined, connected, or repaired to meet regulatory standards and ensure the reliability of electrical supply or telecommunications services. Key Responsibilities: Cable Installation & Jointing: - Perform jointing of medium and low-voltage power cables in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. - Install and join cables for new installations and maintenance projects. - Work with various cable types and jointing techniques, using specialized equipment like hydraulic crimping tools and cable cutters. Cable Termination: - Terminate electrical cables by stripping insulation, fitting connectors, and ensuring secure connections. - Ensure correct alignment, cutting, and joining of cables for optimal system performance. Testing & Fault Diagnosis: - Conduct testing of cable installations to ensure integrity and performance, including continuity tests and insulation resistance tests. - Diagnose faults in cables and joints, conduct inspections, and determine necessary repairs. Health & Safety Compliance: - Ensure all work adheres to local safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment. - Follow safe work practices, respond to emergency situations, and participate in safety audits and risk assessments. Maintenance & Repairs: - Identify, troubleshoot, and repair faults in cable networks, including underground and overhead lines. - Perform scheduled maintenance to prevent cable damage and ensure system reliability. Documentation & Reporting: - Maintain accurate records of work completed, test results, work performed, and encountered issues. - Report any hazards or issues that may compromise safety or service reliability to supervisors. Collaboration: - Work closely with engineers, technicians, and management to ensure timely completion of cable jointing tasks. - Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced team members as needed. Other Duties: - Perform additional tasks as directed by supervisors or management, such as cable pulling, trenching, or assisting with larger projects. Skills and Qualifications: Technical Skills: - Proficiency in the installation, jointing, and termination of electrical and/or telecommunication cables. - Knowledge of jointing techniques, equipment, and safety practices. Experience: - Minimum 2 years of experience in cable jointing, electrical installation, or related field. - Familiarity with different cable types, voltages, and high-voltage cable jointing may be required for some roles. This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule from Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate should have 2 years of relevant work experience.,
