We are hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer with at least 3 years of experience in the hydropower industry. The candidate must be highly skilled in SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assembly design, and detailed manufacturing drawings, along with strong command of AutoCAD for 2D layouts and general arrangement drawings. The role involves complete ownership of the design process — from understanding technical requirements, conceptualizing design solutions, and preparing engineering drawings, to coordinating with the project team during fabrication and installation. The candidate should have working experience designing hydro-mechanical equipment such as gates (sluice, radial, vertical lift), valves, and custom steel structures. A solid understanding of manufacturing processes, welding symbols, GD&T, material selection, and mechanical standards (IS/ASME/BS) is essential. The engineer should also have basic knowledge of auxiliary systems such as compressed air systems, oil lubrication systems, cooling water systems, HVAC units, industrial filters. Responsibilities include preparing Bill of Materials (BOMs), reviewing P&IDs and technical specifications, performing tolerance and interference checks, and ensuring that all design deliverables meet project deadlines and quality standards. Familiarity with fabrication shop practices, site installation requirements, and coordination with vendors/suppliers will be a strong plus. The candidate must have a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.
