Job Title: Senior Hardware Engineer Company: BonV Technology Industry Type: Aerial Mobility Solutions Department: Avionics Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Bhubaneswar Job Description: The Senior Hardware Engineer will lead the design, development, and integration of power electronics and electrical systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and drone platforms. This role requires deep expertise in power electronics, wiring harness design, component selection, and system reliability, with a focus on avionics, payloads, and embedded systems. The engineer will ensure robust, efficient, and safe electrical architectures for demanding UAV applications. Key Responsibilities: Design and optimize DC power systems, including converters, regulators, and battery management for UAVs. Perform load/derating calculations and select appropriate wire gauges for current, voltage drop, and reliability in harsh environments. Specify and integrate connectors based on current/voltage ratings, locking mechanisms, vibration resistance, and environmental protection. Analyse and validate source/sink current limits for embedded boards, flight controllers, and peripheral devices. Select and integrate power modules and converters tailored for avionics, payloads, and mission-critical subsystems. Apply best practices for mounting electronics on drones, considering thermal management, airflow, and vibration mitigation. Execute crimping, soldering, termination, and cable routing for high-reliability harnesses and assemblies. Implement protection elements such as fuses, TVS diodes, reverse polarity protection, and overcurrent safeguards. Troubleshoot hardware issues using DMM, oscilloscope, thermal imaging, and other diagnostic tools. Interpret datasheets, create wiring diagrams, harness layouts, and comprehensive documentation for electrical systems. Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and systems teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance with UAV standards. Conduct environmental and reliability testing (thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC) for UAV hardware. Required Skills: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field. 6+ years’ experience in power electronics, embedded systems, or UAV hardware. Strong knowledge of DC systems, converters, and battery technologies. Skilled in wire gauge selection, harness design, connectors, and cable routing. Experience in mounting, thermal management, and vibration mitigation for UAV electronics. Hands-on crimping, soldering, and termination skills. Familiarity with avionics, payload power needs, telemetry, communication modules, and sensors. Experience with high-voltage systems and UAV safety protocols. Strong in rapid prototyping, field testing, and interpreting datasheets. Ability to create wiring diagrams and technical documentation. Knowledge of UAV standards, regulations, and environmental testing. Familiarity with PCB design (Altium/KiCad), simulations (LTspice), EMC, and signal integrity.
