Body Trim Design Release Engineer

As a Senior Design and Release Engineer for Trim Components, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing automotive Exterior Trims components. Your responsibilities will include conducting concept design and feasibility studies of various components such as Fascia, Bumper, Grille, Claddings, FEM, Roof Rack, etc. Additionally, you will be involved in design practice checks, managing BOM and Complexity Matrix, and ensuring the design release engineering for Trim components and sub-systems. Collaboration with Cross Functional Teams & Suppliers to support the development of Trim components will also be a key aspect of your role. You will be required to define functional requirements, develop system DVPR, DFMEA, and function models. Creating and releasing component performance specifications and drawings will also fall under your purview. Effective communication and coordination with functional engineering groups, suppliers, manufacturing plants, and purchasing teams will be essential for success in this role. Proficiency in CAD tools such as UG NX and TCe is necessary, while experience in CATIA and PLM will be considered an advantage. A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering is required for this position. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in Exterior trim part design and development, with a strong understanding of plastics material selection processes. Concept design, feasibility studies, early CAD creation, design practice/EDP checks, and support in resolving vehicle packaging/logbook issues are some of the key skills expected. Knowledge in Exterior Trims part design and development, vehicle homologation requirements, and stakeholder integration is crucial. A minimum of 8 years of experience in using CAD systems (UG NX & TCe) is required, along with automotive assembly plant and/or program launch experience. Your deliverables will include providing CAD models to the Global team for initial packaging and feasibility, releasing models in TeamCenter for Step Release milestones, completing EDP and gDAP documents, and following up with ACE / DI teams to ensure closure of logbook issues. Strong organizational, program management, leadership, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to learn new systems quickly and direct cross-functional teams effectively.
