Job Description

You will be working as a Specialist Biomedical / Clinical Scientist within the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I) Laboratory at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Your role will involve providing a highly specialized service by performing molecular biology techniques for HLA typing and immunological methods for HLA antibody testing and crossmatching. You will also be responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and reporting test results. Additionally, you will participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to support solid organ transplantation. Key Responsibilities: - Perform molecular biology techniques for HLA typing - Conduct immunological methods for HLA antibody testing and crossmatching - Analyze, interpret, and report test results - Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to support solid organ transplantation - Engage in training and continuing professional development opportunities Qualifications Required: - Honours degree in a biological subject - State registered (or pending application) as a Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist with the Health & Care Professions Council The H&I Laboratory at Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow serves the West of Scotland and supports clinical programs such as adult and pediatric transplantation, disease association, and more. Training and professional development are actively encouraged in this role.
