As a Bioinformatician at UNSW, you will have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment with other leading bioinformaticians. You will play a crucial role in expanding Stats Central's support for bioinformatics, contributing to impactful research projects. Your main responsibilities will include: - Advising on or leading study design, analysis, and communication of results for complex genomic and proteomic datasets - Developing and maintaining analysis pipelines - Conducting regular professional development workshops and seminars - Building and maintaining strong relationships to facilitate interdisciplinary research To qualify for this role, you should possess: - A PhD in Bioinformatics or a related field - Expertise in applying bioinformatic pipelines for single-cell sequencing, spatial proteomics/transcriptomics, and integrative multi-omics data analysis - Strong proficiency in R or Python, bash, and Linux HPC environments - Ability to work independently and meet project requirements with minimal supervision - Effective team player with excellent communication skills Additionally, if you meet the Level B criteria, you should also have: - Proven experience in bioinformatics, including reviewing research grants and journal articles - Leadership skills in planning and analyzing genomics or proteomics studies - Ability to critically evaluate research proposals and teach bioinformatic techniques - Strong interdisciplinary publication record and well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills UNSW offers a competitive salary and benefits including flexible/hybrid working, additional leave over the Christmas period, access to lifelong learning and career development, progressive HR practices, discounts, entitlements, and affordable on-campus parking.
