Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior BI Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable business intelligence (BI) solutions that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in data modeling, dashboard creation, ETL design, and cloud-based BI platforms, with a passion for transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights. As a senior member of the BI team, you will collaborate with data engineers, analysts, business stakeholders, and product teams to deliver robust, user-friendly analytics that support both strategic and operational objectives. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade BI dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar tools. Build and optimize semantic models, tabular data structures, and reusable datasets to enable effective self-service BI. Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical BI solutions that deliver accurate, timely insights. Collaborate closely with data engineering teams to integrate BI solutions with data lake, warehouse, or lakehouse architectures such as Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, or BigQuery. Implement BI development best practices including version control, performance tuning, and adherence to data governance standards. Ensure BI solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with enterprise data governance policies. Mentor junior BI developers and analysts, setting standards for dashboard usability, visualization best practices, and design consistency. Promote self-service BI adoption and data literacy across the organization by working with cross-functional teams. Monitor BI system performance, user adoption, and feedback, delivering continuous improvements and training to maximize business impact. Must-Have Skills 5 to 8 years of experience in BI development and data visualization with advanced skills in Power BI, Tableau, or Looker. Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling techniques, and BI architecture best practices. Experience with data warehouses and cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, BigQuery). Proven ability to build dashboards, KPIs, and executive-level reports aligned with business goals. Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and integration with BI tools. Strong collaboration skills, able to work effectively across engineering, product, finance, and business teams. Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts into business insights. Good-to-Have Skills Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and modern data stack technologies. Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data cataloging, metadata management, and access control. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines for BI, and DevOps practices. Professional BI or data certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst or Tableau Certified Professional. Education & Professional Certifications Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience. Power BI, Tableau, or related certifications preferred. Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification preferred. Soft Skills Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
