Role & responsibilities As a Mechanical Engineer in the Proposal Engineering team, you will play a key role in developing technical and commercial proposals for bulk material handling systems and equipment. Your responsibilities will include: Understanding Client Requirements: Analyze customer specifications, RFQs, and site data to design suitable equipment and system configurations. Preliminary Design & Engineering: Prepare concept designs, general arrangement drawings, and basic engineering calculations for screening, crushing, conveying, and feeding equipment. Technical Proposal Preparation: Develop detailed technical proposals including equipment specifications, performance data, and layout drawings. Cost Estimation: Collaborate with procurement and design teams to generate accurate BOMs and cost estimates for materials, fabrication, bought-out items, and other project components. Solution Customization: Adapt standard designs to suit specific customer needs or application environments while ensuring technical feasibility and cost-effectiveness. Cross-functional Coordination: Work closely with sales, design, R&D, and production teams to ensure alignment of proposal details with internal capabilities and timelines. Vendor & Subcontractor Interaction: Coordinate with external vendors for pricing and technical information related to outsourced components. Documentation & Compliance: Ensure proposals comply with relevant industry standards, customer specifications, and company policies. Support to Sales Team: Provide technical support during client meetings, presentations, and clarification sessions. Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of proposal templates, estimation tools, and engineering practices. Preferred candidate profile Educational Qualification : Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized university. Experience : 1 + years of experience in proposal engineering, sales engineering, or design engineering, preferably in bulk material handling equipment or industrial machinery sectors. Technical Proficiency : Strong understanding of mechanical components, material flow systems, and industrial equipment such as screens, crushers, feeders, and conveyors. Ability to interpret and create engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications. Familiarity with AutoCAD Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable interacting with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams to gather technical details and clarify requirements. Commercial Awareness : Basic understanding of cost estimation, pricing strategies, and techno-commercial proposals. Ability to balance customer expectations with internal cost and delivery constraints. Project Orientation : Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple proposals and meet tight deadlines. Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset and proactive attitude. Other Traits : Eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic and technically demanding environment. Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits or client meetings if required.
