Backend Engineer - AI Startup (IIT + Competitive Programming)

As a Backend Engineer at an AI Startup based in Bangalore, you will be part of a team that is revolutionizing the finance industry with AI-powered solutions. The company is on a mission to create an AI-powered finance team that can perform tasks such as closing books, reconciling cash, forecasting revenue, and preparing board decks in a real-time and auditable manner. The AI agents developed by the company are designed to seamlessly integrate with existing finance systems, delivering accurate outputs without the need for system migrations. Your role as a Backend Engineer will involve: - Contributing to the development of reasoning agents that can work with fragmented data - Orchestrating workflows under audit constraints - Playing a key role in building a unified system of action & intelligence for finance To excel in this position, you should meet the following qualifications: - Minimum 4-8 years of backend software engineering experience - Strong builder/founder experience, preferably as a founder (CTO) or founding engineer in a VC-funded company - Proficiency in Python, FastAPI/Flask - Graduation from a Top Tier University, specifically IITs - Demonstrated passion for the role, with a clear and meaningful reason for switching jobs - Bonus: Experience in fintech, ERP/accounting systems, or AI infrastructure is beneficial but not mandatory In addition to the technical qualifications, you must have the following: - Background in Competitive Programming or Math Olympiad (e.g., IOI, USACO, ACM ICPC World Finals, USAMO, IMO) - Experience working at a startup from seed to Series A/B - Blend of experience across unicorn or big tech companies and early-stage startups - Exposure to ETL/data engineering The company is currently remote but plans to open an in-person office in Bangalore within the next 3 to 6 months as the team expands. The team operates on a 6-day/week highly committed schedule, and you will have the opportunity to join as an early engineering hire, contributing to the growth of the backend team.,
