Backend & API Automation Tester

As a QA Engineer specializing in Backend Testing and API Automation, your role will involve the following key responsibilities: - Designing, developing, and executing automated test cases for backend services and APIs. - Validating RESTful API responses, ensuring performance, and handling errors effectively. - Utilizing tools like Postman, RestAssured, Swagger, or similar for both manual and automated testing purposes. - Writing and maintaining test scripts using Java, Python, or other relevant scripting languages. - Collaborating closely with backend developers and DevOps engineers to comprehend system architecture and integrations. - Integrating automated test cases into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc. - Participating in debugging sessions and assisting in root cause analysis of issues. - Maintaining clear documentation for test scenarios, coverage reports, and defects. - Ensuring that test environments are appropriately set up and configured for backend validation. In order to excel in this role, you are required to possess the following qualifications: - Strong knowledge of RESTful API principles and HTTP protocols. - Hands-on experience with tools like Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI, or their equivalents. - Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language such as Java, Python, or JavaScript. - Experience in integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines. - Familiarity with JSON, XML, and database querying (e.g., SQL). - A good understanding of software development and testing life cycles. Additionally, the following preferred skills would be beneficial for the role: - Experience with API mocking tools or service virtualization. - Knowledge of performance testing tools. - Exposure to containerized environments (Docker) and cloud services.
