Backend & API Automation Tester

You are a skilled and detail-oriented QA Engineer with approximately 3 years of experience in backend testing and API automation. Your role involves designing, developing, and executing automated test cases for backend services and APIs. You will be responsible for validating RESTful API responses, performance, and error handling. Utilizing tools like Postman, RestAssured, Swagger, or similar tools for both manual and automated testing is a key part of your responsibilities. In this role, you will write and maintain test scripts using languages like Java, Python, or other scripting languages. Collaboration with backend developers and DevOps engineers to comprehend system architecture and integrations is essential. You will integrate automated test cases into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc., and participate in debugging sessions and root cause analysis of issues. Maintaining clear documentation for test scenarios, coverage reports, and defects is crucial. You will ensure that test environments are appropriately set up and configured for backend validation. Strong knowledge of RESTful API principles, HTTP protocols, and hands-on experience with tools like Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI, or equivalent tools are required. Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language such as Java, Python, JavaScript is necessary. Experience in integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines, familiarity with JSON, XML, and database querying (e.g., SQL), and a good understanding of software development and testing life cycles are key skills for this role. Preferred skills include experience with API mocking tools or service virtualization, knowledge of performance testing tools, and exposure to containerized environments (Docker) and cloud services.,
