AVP API Engineer III - Credit (L10)

The AVP API Engineer III - Credit at Synchrony is a pivotal role where you will be involved in designing and developing cutting-edge technology solutions for the credit card processing platform. As part of the Engineering Team, you will play a crucial role in influencing and collaborating with various stakeholders to create innovative applications that meet industry standards. Your responsibilities will include mentoring team members, ensuring compliance with architectural standards, and participating in Agile scrums to drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: - Demonstrate a solid understanding of Credit Card processing platform and recommend alternative actions for problem resolution - Collaborate with software developers, product owners, and application architects to create exceptional apps - Mentor team members at all levels and ensure compliance with architecture, security, and technology standards - Assist in crafting and maintaining the future state technology architectural strategy - Lead Agile sprints as a technical expert and ensure application code quality through development and testing - Analyze production defects, troubleshoot systems, identify root causes, and implement fixes - Provide on-call support periodically and work on improving system performance - Collaborate with third-party vendors for software development and integration - Perform other duties and special projects as assigned Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience OR 9 years of experience without a degree - 5+ years of Java experience and hands-on experience in Credit Card Acquisition platform - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills - Excellent technical communication skills - Knowledge of Financial Industry and Consumer Lending is desirable - Experience in microservices architecture, cloud-based technologies, C++, Java, Kafka, DevOps, and Agile development - Familiarity with database architecture, data modeling, MySQL, SQL, JSON, REST, and XML web services - Experience in writing unit and integration test cases for high availability Eligibility Criteria: - Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience OR 9 years of experience without a degree Work Timings: - 2 PM - 11 PM IST with flexibility based on business needs This role offers Enhanced Flexibility and Choice and requires availability between 06:00 AM Eastern Time to 11:30 AM Eastern Time for meetings with global teams.
