Department: Engineering / Robotics Location: chinchwad Experience: 3-5 Years (Robotics / Automation preferred) About the Role We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our robotic system integration team. The candidate will be responsible for designing mechanical assemblies, robot fixtures, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), gantry systems, automated welding/handling stations, and custom automation projects. The role requires strong design fundamentals, creativity, and hands-on exposure to industrial machinery. Key Responsibilities 1. Design & Development Design robot fixtures, grippers, welding jigs, positioners, gantry systems , and other automation equipment. Create 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs , and complete design documentation. Ensure designs meet functional, structural, and safety standards. Perform tolerance stack-ups, interference checks, DFM, DFA , and feasibility studies. 2. Robot & Automation Integration Understand robot reach, payload, cable routing, safety zones & process requirements. Integrate mechanical design with robot, electrical, pneumatic, and welding systems . 3. Analysis & Validation Perform basic structural analysis and load calculations for frames, fixtures, and mechanisms. Support prototype building, installation, and commissioning activities. 4. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with robot programmers, electrical engineers, and production teams . Coordinate with vendors for manufacturing, machining, and fabrication. 5. Quality & Standards Ensure all designs meet ISO, CE, safety, and customer-specific standards . Maintain revision control, design guidelines, and engineering best practices. Required Skills Strong knowledge of SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, or Creo . Understanding of manufacturing processes like machining, fabrication, sheet metal, welding . Good knowledge of robotics fundamentals (reach, payload, TCP, EOAT, accessibility). Proficiency in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering calculations . Basic understanding of pneumatics/hydraulics preferred. Ability to work in fast-paced project environments. Qualifications Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Experience in robotics, automation, SPM, or welding automation is an added advantage. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Project ownership and willingness to visit customer sites for installation/commissioning.
