Role Summary

The Auto Body Dent Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, assessing, and skillfully repairing exterior body damage, primarily focusing on dents and minor collision damage. This role requires a high level of technical precision, attention to detail, and expertise in using specialized tools to restore a vehicle's body panels to their original specifications and finish.

Key Responsibilities

1. Vehicle Assessment and Estimation

• Inspection: Conduct thorough and meticulous inspections of vehicles to accurately identify and assess all forms of damage, including dents, dings, creases, scratches, and minor panel misalignment.
• Documentation: Accurately document the location, size, and severity of the damage using established procedures, sometimes including photographic evidence.
• Estimation: Provide accurate, detailed, and timely estimates for the necessary dent removal, repair time, and material costs to both customers and insurance adjusters.
• Customer Communication: Explain the repair process, timelines, and estimation details clearly and professionally to customers as required.

2. Dent Repair and Execution

• Preparation: Prepare the damaged area for repair, which may include panel removal, sanding, masking, and surface cleaning.
• Core Repair: Utilize a variety of specialized tools and equipment—such as paintless dent removal (PDR) tools, hammers, dollies, stud welders, and body fillers—to effectively repair and remove dents from vehicle body panels.
• Panel Restoration: Skillfully reshape and straighten damaged panels, ensuring minimal use of body filler and maintaining the structural integrity of the vehicle.
• Quality Control: Perform checks throughout the repair process to ensure the surface is smooth, contours are correct, and the repair meets the shop's quality standards before moving to paint or finishing stages.

3. Maintenance and Compliance

• Equipment Care: Maintain all tools, equipment, and the work area in a clean, organized, and safe working condition.
• Safety Adherence: Strictly follow all shop safety procedures, protocols, and best practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Procedural Compliance: Adhere to all manufacturer repair procedures and shop guidelines to ensure repairs are done accurately and warranty-compliant.

Qualifications and Skills

Required

• Proven experience as an Auto Body Technician, Panel Beater, or Dent Repair Specialist.
• Expert-level knowledge of various dent repair techniques, including PDR and conventional dent repair methods.
• Proficiency in using a wide range of hand and power tools specific to auto body repair.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, flawless repairs.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred

• Technical certification in Auto Body Repair (e.g., I-CAR or ASE certification).
• Experience in minor paintwork preparation (e.g., priming, sanding).
• Ability to read and interpret repair schematics and documentation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
• Good visual acuity and manual dexterity for precise work.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
