Main Job Responsibilities: Leads die shop staff and supervises the work of die correctors. Oversee die maintenance and die repair operations. Review new product tooling designs for feasibility and manufacturability issues. Works with New Product Development and Engineering to ensure procurement of appropriate dies. Coordinate with production, run of samples of all new dies, as they are entered into the production process, maintain updated die information in manufacturing software. Source tooling suppliers for new tooling programs and for the repair of existing tools. Responsible for caustic and nitridation processes to be completed according to established schedules. Responsible for ordering new and replacement dies, which includes direct contact with various die vendors. Establish and maintain consistent feedback and evaluation programs for all die vendors. Responsible for coordinating the training of new employees. Recommend and implement corrective actions, including die corrections and adjustments to improve performance and quality. Conduct trial runs on new or modified dies to evaluate performance and make necessary adjustments. Work closely with the extrusion team and quality, and communicate effectively about die performance, corrections made, and any ongoing issues to ensure smooth production operations. Ensure proper handling and storage of dies to avoid damage and maintain optimal working conditions. Maintain detailed records of die corrections, modifications, and maintenance activities. Document die performance issues and actions taken to resolve them for future reference and continuous improvement.
