Job Description

Position Summary:

The Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology will contribute to the institution’s academic, clinical, and research missions. The role involves providing high-quality patient care, educating undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervising residents, and participating in ongoing departmental research. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, innovation in teaching and patient care, and active involvement in scholarly activities.

Key Responsibilities:Clinical Duties:

  • Provide evidence-based radiation therapy services to cancer patients.
  • Participate in treatment planning, target delineation, and supervision of radiation delivery.
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and coordinate care with medical and surgical oncology teams.
  • Supervise residents and junior staff in clinical and procedural duties.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional protocols and radiation safety guidelines.

Academic Responsibilities:

  • Teach MBBS, MD/DNB students and other trainees through lectures, bedside teaching, and seminars.
  • Conduct and guide academic sessions including journal clubs, case presentations, and grand rounds.
  • Develop and update teaching materials and curriculum content.

Research & Scholarly Activity:

  • Initiate and participate in departmental and institutional research projects.
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at academic conferences.
  • Mentor students and residents in research methodology and project execution.

Administrative Duties:

  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and examination duties.
  • Assist in quality improvement, audits, and accreditation processes.
  • Coordinate with hospital administration for academic and clinical schedules.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Education: MBBS + MD/DNB in Radiation Oncology from a recognized institution.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 1–3 years post-MD/DNB teaching or clinical experience (as per institutional or national regulatory body requirements).
  • Preference for candidates with demonstrated research and teaching experience.
  • Registration: Valid registration with State/National Medical Council (as applicable).

  • Strong clinical expertise in advanced radiation techniques (3DCRT, IMRT, IGRT, SRS, SBRT, Brachytherapy).
  • Effective teaching and mentoring skills.
  • Research-oriented mindset with experience in protocol development and data analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to academic integrity and professional ethics.
