Assistant Professor Nephrology

Position Summary:

The Assistant Professor of Nephrology is an early-career academic nephrologist responsible for teaching, patient care, and clinical research in the field of nephrology. This role includes training medical students and residents, managing nephrology patients, and contributing to academic and institutional development.

Key Responsibilities:1. Teaching & Academic Duties

• Conduct lectures, bedside teaching, and tutorials for undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD/DNB) students.
• Participate in clinical case discussions, seminars, and journal clubs.
• Assist in the development and evaluation of the nephrology curriculum.
• Supervise residents and fellows in their academic and clinical work.

2. Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient and inpatient care for patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases.
• Supervise and perform procedures such as:
• Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis management
• Kidney biopsies
• Vascular access placement and care
• Participate in multidisciplinary care for patients with complex conditions.
• Be available for emergency nephrology consults and dialysis unit coverage.

3. Research & Scholarly Activity

• Initiate or participate in research projects relevant to nephrology.
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
• Guide residents and students in research methodology and academic writing.
• Stay updated with recent advances in nephrology and contribute to CME programs.

4. Administrative & Institutional Duties

• Support the Head of Department in academic scheduling and documentation.
• Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and quality assurance programs.
• Serve on institutional academic or clinical committees, as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Essential:
• MBBS with MD (General Medicine or Pediatrics) and DM/DNB in Nephrology from a recognized institution.
• Registration with national or state medical council.
• Desirable:
• Some experience in teaching and research in an academic setting.
• Publications in indexed medical journals.
