Assistant Professor General Surgery

Position Summary:

The Assistant Professor in General Surgery is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care, surgical education, and academic leadership. The role includes performing surgeries, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, conducting research, and participating in departmental administration. This position is crucial for maintaining academic excellence, promoting evidence-based surgical practice, and mentoring the next generation of surgeons.

Key Responsibilities:Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive surgical care to patients in OPD, IPD, emergency, and operating rooms.
• Perform elective and emergency surgical procedures independently and with residents.
• Supervise patient care and post-operative management in wards and ICUs.
• Participate in clinical case discussions, mortality reviews, and treatment planning.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation in accordance with hospital protocols.

Teaching Responsibilities:

• Teach and train MBBS, MS/DNB residents, interns, and nursing staff.
• Conduct academic sessions including lectures, clinical demonstrations, and bedside teaching.
• Supervise and evaluate the academic progress of residents and students.
• Develop and update the curriculum in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

Research & Publications:

• Engage in clinical or translational research projects.
• Publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at academic conferences.
• Guide students and residents in research methodology and dissertation work.

Administrative Duties:

• Assist in organizing CME programs, workshops, and surgical skill labs.
• Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support accreditation and compliance processes (e.g., NMC, NABH).

Eligibility Criteria:

• Educational Qualification:
• MBBS + MS/DNB in General Surgery from a recognized institution.
• Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of post-PG teaching/research/clinical experience (as per NMC or relevant body).
• Registration:
• Valid registration with National/State Medical Council.
