Job Description: Educator – Mathematics, Primary & Secondary Grade Hamari Shala Program, Ashraya Location: Pune Our Vision Improving the lives and shaping the futures of vulnerable children in Pune, India by advancing educational opportunities, nurturing holistic development, and building healthy, empowered communities. I. Background Ashraya’s integrated program model is designed to meet immediate, individual-level needs while also providing scope for long-term growth and community development. We work with denotified and notified tribal groups at Yerwada. Since 2005, AIC has enrolled and supported the education of hundreds of out-of-school children from the streets and slums. II. Position Summary Hamari Shala Program is a schooling program under the NIOS board. At AIC, we apply experiential and project-based learning methods to support students’ development. This is a full-time position. The Math Educator is expected to work closely with the Education Program Lead and be responsible for the daily running and management of their class. This includes lesson planning, celebrating learning through activities and festivals, documenting progress, and engaging with parents and community members. The program aims to bridge academic gaps and facilitate holistic development. The educator is expected to contribute to an effective and joyful school culture, while motivating students and colleagues alike. III. Key Duties and Responsibilities Take responsibility for bridging learning gaps in mathematics (which may range from 2–4 years behind grade level) for primary and secondary students. Set clear goals for class learning outcomes and individual student success in mathematics. Use creative and interactive teaching strategies to develop students’ mathematical understanding and confidence. Prepare daily and long-term lesson plans based on the AIC HSP curriculum and learning goals. Deliver a full range of mathematical topics appropriate to each student’s level (basic numeracy to secondary-level concepts). Make math learning engaging, hands-on, and relevant to real life. Monitor student attendance and inform leadership in case of long absenteeism. Work closely with AIC’s counsellors and remedial staff to support students needing additional academic or emotional support. Assign and assess classwork and homework, providing timely feedback. Foster strong classroom management and encourage productive learning habits. Supervise students throughout the school day, including during breaks. Conduct regular basti visits and maintain detailed student portfolios. Attend open days and parent-teacher meetings to communicate student progress. Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions. Assess and evaluate student progress through ongoing assessment and testing. Collaborate with families, administrators, and team members to support student growth. Support and help organize student events, math-based activities, camps, and excursions. Position Summary: The Computer Teacher will be responsible for instructing students on computer science concepts, Digital literacy and practical technology skills. The role involves creating engaging lesson plans, assessing student performance, and preparing students to use technology effectively in their academic and future professional lives. The teacher would be engaged with grades 1 to 10. This is a full time position. You will work for 8 hours, 5 days per week and one Saturday a month. III. Key Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Instruction and Teaching: o Plan and deliver lessons on computer science topics such as programming, web design, data management, and cyber security. o Teach digital literacy skills including the use of office software, internet safety, and responsible online behavior. 2. The EVS/Science Educator is expected to work closely with the Education Program Lead and be responsible for the daily running and management of their class. This includes lesson planning, celebrating learning through activities and festivals, documenting progress, and engaging with parents and community members.
