Job Roles and Responsibilities of Staff Nurse Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with acute and chronic cardiac conditions. Monitor and assess patients' vital signs, ECG, and other cardiac parameters. Administer medications, including IV drugs and blood thinners, as prescribed. Assist in diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests. Monitor patients post-cardiac surgery (e.g., angioplasty, coronary artery bypass grafting). Provide pre and post-operative care for cardiac patients. Educate patients and their families about cardiac conditions, medications, lifestyle changes, and recovery plans. Work closely with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Respond to medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest and assist in resuscitation efforts. Administer CPR, defibrillation, and other emergency interventions as necessary. Monitor patients in the critical care unit and respond to any changes in condition promptly. Provide emotional support to patients and their families during times of stress or uncertainty. Address patient concerns and provide clear communication regarding treatment options and procedures. Assist in end-of-life care and provide comfort measures for patients requiring palliative care. Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and procedures at all times. Maintain professional certification (e.g., BLS, ACLS) as required. Follow infection control protocols to prevent hospital-acquired infections. Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care Monitor and manage inpatients, especially cardiac patients, in consultation with consultants. Attend to emergency cases and stabilize patients before specialist intervention. Perform routine examinations, clinical assessments, and document findings accurately. Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders and hospital protocols. 2. Clinical Support Assist consultants during procedures, surgeries, and investigations. Coordination & Communication Communicate effectively with consultants, nursing staff, and other departments. Guide junior medical staff and interns in routine patient care.
