As a Steel Sculpture Foreman, you will play a crucial role in leading our team through the design, fabrication, and installation of large-scale steel sculptures for a variety of public and private commissions. Your expertise in steel fabrication, combined with strong leadership skills and a dedication to artistic craftsmanship, will be instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of projects. You will be responsible for supervising and coordinating a team of skilled workers, interpreting artistic designs and technical drawings, collaborating with artists and clients, and overseeing various fabrication processes to deliver high-quality steel sculptures. Your key responsibilities will include supervising and coordinating a team of steel sculptors and fabricators, interpreting artistic designs and technical drawings, collaborating with artists, designers, and clients, overseeing welding, cutting, grinding, and finishing processes, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, managing project schedules, budgets, and material inventories, training and mentoring team members, conducting quality control inspections, and coordinating with project managers and external contractors for on-site installations. To succeed in this role, you should have at least 5 years of experience as a foreman or lead in steel fabrication, preferably with a background in artistic or sculptural projects. You should possess a strong knowledge of steel fabrication techniques, including welding (MIG/TIG), plasma cutting, and metal forming, as well as the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and artistic renderings. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a high school diploma or equivalent (an associates or bachelor's degree in art, industrial design, or construction management is a plus). Additionally, you should be physically able to work in a demanding environment, have a passion for art and sculpture, possess an eye for detail and aesthetics, and be willing to assist in preparing materials, operating fabrication tools and equipment, collaborating with team members, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and assisting with on-site installations. Reporting progress and issues to the Foreman and contributing to problem-solving on the job site will also be part of your responsibilities.
