As a 3D Environment Artist specializing in Unreal Engine projects, you will be responsible for creating high-quality buildings, props, and environmental assets. Your role will involve utilizing your strong modeling fundamentals to develop assets with clean topology and optimal polycount. Additionally, you will be tasked with creating and optimizing PBR textures and materials for real-time rendering within Unreal Engine. Collaboration with the art and design team is essential to ensure visual consistency and performance optimization. Your proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Blender, 3ds Max, or Maya will be crucial, along with your understanding of PBR workflow and texture creation tools like Substance Painter/Designer and Photoshop. You should have practical experience working with Unreal Engine materials, shaders, and Niagara particle systems to bring environments to life. Furthermore, the ability to work within established pipelines, maintain high-quality asset standards, and optimize assets for performance without compromising quality is key to excelling in this role. A good sense of scale, proportion, and architectural detail, along with knowledge of UV mapping, baking, and LOD creation for real-time assets, will be valuable assets in your toolkit. While not mandatory, experience with procedural generation tools like Houdini or Unreal PCG, knowledge of lighting and post-processing in Unreal Engine, and familiarity with world-building for games or simulations would be advantageous. An understanding of blueprints for asset integration is also beneficial.
