About the role We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Conservation Lead to guide and grow our on-ground conservation efforts, particularly around sacred groves and culturally significant landscapes. As a key connector between our team, partner organizations, and local communities, you will lead the charge in identifying, nurturing, and managing conservation projects across the region. This is a part-time role for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys meaningful conversations at the grassroots level, and can bring conservation knowledge to life through real-world action. Key Responsibilities • Project liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for our ongoing conservation projects, ensuring regular communication and collaboration with local partners and stakeholders. • Site visits & fieldwork: Travel to project sites to assess progress, build relationships, and explore new conservation opportunities, particularly in sacred groves and ecologically significant areas. • Community engagement: Connect with grassroots organizations, NGOs, and local communities (e.g., through partnerships like I Love Jaisalmer) to co-develop conservation initiatives that are culturally and ecologically sensitive. • Project scouting: Actively seek out and evaluate potential new conservation projects, with a focus on sacred groves and community-led ecological restoration. • Expertise sharing: Represent our conservation goals in discussions with field experts, NGOs, and local leaders; provide input and insights on conservation methods and strategies. Who you are • Background: You have a strong foundation in conservation, ecology, or environmental science, ideally with experience in grassroots or NGO sectors. • Connector: You’re a people person—equally comfortable speaking with local community members, NGO workers, and conservationists. • Field-oriented: You enjoy being on the ground, traveling to project sites, and engaging with nature and people firsthand. • Proactive: You’re self-driven, organized, and eager to take initiative to identify and pursue new conservation opportunities. • Communicator: You can articulate conservation goals clearly and persuasively in both informal and formal settings.
