Applications Development Manager- Java (Backend)

The Applications Development Manager position is an intermediate management role where you will be responsible for leading and directing a team of employees to establish and implement new or improved application systems and programs, in collaboration with the Technology team. Your main objective will be to oversee applications systems analysis and programming activities. Your responsibilities will include conducting tasks such as feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology assessment, applications development, and establishing new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs. You will also be monitoring and controlling all phases of the development process, providing user and operational support on applications, and utilizing your specialty knowledge to analyze complex problems and provide evaluative judgments. Additionally, you will recommend and develop security measures post-implementation, consult with users/clients and technology groups, recommend advanced programming solutions, and ensure essential procedures are followed. You will also serve as an advisor to new or lower-level analysts, operate with a limited level of direct supervision, and act as a subject matter expert to senior stakeholders and team members. Qualifications for this role include at least 8 to 11 years of hands-on application development experience. The primary skill set required includes Java 17, Spring Boot 3.0, PL/SQL (Oracle 19c), DB Design and Optimization, Microservices (Spring Boot), Web services, Design Patterns, Kafka, and Elasticsearch. It would be beneficial to have knowledge of Spark, Nodejs, Jenkins, OpenShift, Autosys, Angular 14+, and JavaScript. Experience in systems analysis, software application programming, microservice development, distributed system design, managing successful projects, and working under pressure is essential. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
