Application Support Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer/Lead to provide operational and technical support for business critical applications. This role involves troubleshooting, resolving incidents, and ensuring the smooth functioning of applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python, PostgreSQL, Shell Scripting, and experience with Developer Portals, which are essential for automation, data handling, and application support.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 support for applications, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.

• Analyze and resolve application issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.

• Develop and maintain Python scripts for automation, data processing, and operational tasks.

• Write and optimize PostgreSQL queries for reporting and data management.

• Create and maintain Shell scripts for system tasks and application support activities.

• Collaborate with development teams for bug fixes, enhancements, and release deployments.

• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements.

• Document troubleshooting steps, SOPs, and maintain a knowledge base for recurring issues.

Mandatory Skills

• 4+ years of experience in application support or production support within enterprise environments.

• Strong proficiency in Python (automation, scripting, API integration).

• Hands on experience with PostgreSQL (queries, performance tuning, database management).

• Good understanding of Unix/Linux environments and Shell scripting.

• Experience with Developer Portals.

• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with strong communication abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure IaaS) and containerization (Linux Containers, Google Kubernetes Engine).

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Security Practices DevSecOps.

• Exposure to monitoring and alerting frameworks (optional).

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
