Health Equity is a start-up which is now, one and half year old. Health Equitys mission is to take modern and professional healthcare to the last citizen in our villages. Health Equity is committed to bringing healthcare to the Last Citizen in our villages in a manner that reduces cost, improves quality, and enhances patient safety.
In doing so, it will: a) promote greater utilisation of an integrated model of team-based primary care involving Arogya Mitras supported by experienced professionalsb) create full time livelihood for the Arogya Mitras and c) promote health as a human right, involve communities in decision-making, and advance equity in provision of care. Savita Memorial Trust, set up by the late Dr.HM Patel, the former Finance and Home Minister of India, which is presently spearheaded by Dr. Amrita Patel, former Chairman of National Dairy Development Board and Charutar Arogya Mandal (which manages a 1000-bed hospital in Karamsad, Gujarat and a medical college), is implementing this project with the mission of taking modern and professional healthcare to the last citizen in our villages and a vision that of establishing a system of vertically-integrated care that is self-sustaining in the long-term, but also affordable and appropriate for the rural community. Savita Memorial Trust has put in place a Board of Management, which would have 4 trustees and 4 eminent experts in Public Health, with a mandate to guide and oversee the progress of the project, including reviewing the financial performance. As mentioned earlier, the project Health Equity is about integrating Primary and Secondary Health Care by creating linkages to and fro between the two. For the Primary Care component, about 100 Villages of Sojitra, Petlad, Tarapur and Matar Taluka have been Identified. Though Sojitra is considered to be one of the richest towns of Gujarat, it lags behind even in providing basic health care needs to the community. For the secondary care component, a hospital has been set up in Sojitra town, which is about 20 Kmts from Anand, with effectively all the facilities that one could expect in a good secondary care facility. It has an OPD Area with 6 OPDs, 50 beds for indoor facility which includes, general ward beds, sharing and individual deluxe rooms. It has 3 OTs, one of which is an OT with laminar Flow. 4 ICU beds for adults, 2 ICU beds for neonates and paediatric patients. There is a fully automated, 24*7 laboratory, facilities for Xray, USG, Echo and ECG. It is also equipped to handle emergency 24*7 at its trauma and Emergency area, additionally has a Blood Storage unit and 24*7 Pharmacy. The hospital would be shortly applying for NABH and empanelment with Ayushman Bharat as well. OPDs are conducted routinely for all specilaities like Medicine, ENT, Paediatrics, Orthopedics, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, Dentistry and Physiotherapy and surgeries conducted accordingly. The hospital is situated in a campus of 10 Acre, with lush green surrounding and a lake by its side. It has quarters for doctors for residential arrangement as well.c
