American English - Copy Editor and Proofreader For e-Learning Company

Job Overview:

THORS India Pvt Ltd is an extended arm of the US based e-learning content development company THORS LLC.

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Copy Editor and Proofreader to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of our technical content. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of American English, exceptional grammar skills, and experience in editing technical or instructional materials. This role requires expertise in proofreading, copyediting, and enforcing writing standards to ensure the content meets THORS standards and enhances user comprehension.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and edit technical documents, e-learning course materials, and marketing content for grammar, punctuation, clarity, and consistency.
• Ensure adherence to company-specific writing standards and work within our company style guides and templates to standardize content.
• Maintain logical content flow, ensuring that technical concepts connect smoothly and are easy to understand.
• Check for typographical, formatting, and structural errors while ensuring content aligns with the intended audience.
• Check for connection, consistency, and correctness of written text with the visuals.
• Collaborate with content writers to refine content without altering technical accuracy.
• Provide constructive feedback to writers to improve content quality and writing skills.
• Assist in developing and maintaining standards to ensure uniformity in tone and style.

Requirements:

• Masters degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in copyediting, proofreading, or technical editing (preferably in e- learning, manufacturing, or engineering-related fields).
• Exceptional proficiency in American English grammar, syntax, and usage.
• Strong understanding of technical content editing, with the ability to simplify complex concepts without compromising accuracy.
• Familiarity with MLA style guide and best practices in technical writing.
• Experience using editing tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
• Knowledge of mechanical/manufacturing terminology is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with e-learning content or structured documentation.
• Ability to proofread multimedia content, including video scripts, presentations, and subtitles.
