Department: Production Location: Chakan Reports To: Shop Manager Experience: 5 10 years in aluminum welding and fabrication Education: Diploma / BE / B.Tech Mechanical / Metallurgy / Welding Technology Job Purpose: To manage and execute aluminum welding and fabrication activities in the production line Role & responsibilities Lead day-to-day aluminum welding operations on the shop floor. Prepare and execute production plans in line with project timelines and customer requirements. Ensure proper welding techniques (TIG, MIG, Pulse MIG) for aluminum components. Interpret technical drawings, weld symbols, and WPS/PQR. Monitor and maintain weld quality in accordance with ISO, ASME, AWS D1.2, or other applicable codes. Optimize welding parameters and troubleshoot welding-related issues. Supervise and train welders on aluminum-specific techniques and safety practices. Work closely with Quality and Design teams for continuous improvement and NCR resolution. Maintain productivity and cost control metrics while improving cycle time. Implement 5S, lean manufacturing, and safety practices on the shop floor. Ensure proper use and maintenance of welding equipment and fixtures. Key Skills Required: Strong expertise in TIG / MIG / Pulse MIG welding for aluminum alloys (5000 / 6000 series etc.). In-depth knowledge of aluminum metallurgy , joint design, heat input control, and distortion handling. Hands-on experience with fixtures, jigs , and robotic welding (optional but preferred). Familiarity with WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications (WPQ) as per international standards. Proficient in production planning, line balancing , and process documentation. Good understanding of safety norms , especially in aluminum welding (fume extraction, fire safety). Knowledge of ISO 3834 , ISO 9001 , EN / AWS codes is a strong plus. Preferred candidate profile Welding Inspector Certification (e.g., CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI) Advantageous NDT Level II (VT, PT, RT) – Optional
