Role Overview: The Vendor Development & Procurement Specialist is responsible for strategically improving suppliers capabilities to meet organizational requirements. This role involves identifying, evaluating, and developing vendors to ensure the supply chain remains reliable, cost-effective, and innovative. The ultimate goal is to build strong supplier partnerships and ensure timely availability of high-quality parts and services. Key Responsibilities: Vendor Development & Management Identify and develop new vendors for fabrication, machining, welding, jigs & fixtures manufacturing and surface treatment processes. Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure compliance with company standards. Evaluate vendor performance regularly and initiate improvement plans. Foster strong, long-term supplier relationships to promote innovation and cost savings. Strategic Procurement Implement cost-effective sourcing strategies ensuring timely delivery and quality standards. Consolidate and standardize spare parts orders to optimize procurement. Collaborate with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) for sourcing suitable and quality parts. Procurement Process Management Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including RFQs, negotiations, and purchase order management. Negotiate contracts for competitive pricing, favourable terms, and timely delivery. Maintain accurate procurement records for future decision-making and continuous improvement. Supplier Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers (OEMs and spare parts vendors). Work with suppliers to create alternate products and implement cost-saving measures. Drive supplier performance improvement initiatives for mutual growth. Technical Knowledge & Skills: Machining & fabrication process cycle time analysis. Welding knowledge: TIG, MIG, ARC processes. Sheet metal and surface treatment knowledge. Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and process sequencing. Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards (added advantage). Knowledge of vendor resources for fabrication, machining, and surface treatment. Other Requirements: Strong negotiation and cost analysis skills (cost comparison, cost reduction strategies). Ability to ensure on-time availability of defect-free spares, jigs, fixtures, and related services. Proactive approach in identifying alternate suppliers and reducing costs without compromising quality.
