Position: Junior Mathematician (with Python Programming Skills) Location: EcoSpace Business Park, New Town, Kolkata Company: Agnik (A Global Connected Car Technology Company) About the Role: We are seeking Junior Mathematicians to join our Data Science team at our Kolkata office. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in mathematics and statistics, a passion for algorithm development, and an interest in real-world applications like IoT and connected vehicle technologies. The role involves mathematical research, data modeling, algorithm design, and experimental analysis. A strong grasp of linear algebra, probability, statistics, optimization, Markov processes, and control theory is essential. Working knowledge of Python and a willingness to experiment with code are highly desirable. Key Responsibilities: As a Junior Mathematician Intern, your role will involve assisting the team in various mathematical and data-related tasks. You will work under the guidance of senior team members and get hands-on experience in applying your academic knowledge to real-world projects. Your responsibilities may include: · Supporting the design and testing of mathematical and statistical models. · Assisting in writing simple Python code to test and validate algorithms. · Learning to analyze data and create basic visualizations. · Helping the team document findings and maintain project-related materials. · Participating in discussions and brainstorming sessions related to mathematical problem-solving. General Duties: · Learn and apply key mathematical concepts such as linear algebra, probability, and statistics to practical tasks. · Assist in collecting, organizing, and cleaning data for experiments and analysis. · Work on small research assignments or literature reviews under supervision. · Practice basic statistical techniques (e.g., regression, sampling, simulations) in Python. · Observe and learn how projects are managed, communicated, and presented within a team. · Prepare short summaries or reports of work done, as part of your learning process. Qualifications: Master’s or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related mathematical discipline. 0 to 1+ years of relevant experience in mathematical or statistical research roles. 0 to 1+ years of experience in programming with Python (academic or project-based work acceptable). Required Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of linear algebra, probability theory, hypothesis testing, regression, and optimization. Familiarity with data science and machine learning concepts. Proficiency in Python and related libraries for statistical analysis. Experience with data visualization and cleaning. Familiarity with sample design and estimation methods is a plus. Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. Team player with a collaborative mindset. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Professional attitude and problem-solving mindset.
