Role Purpose Provide 24x7 operational support for unix / virtualization engineer services from the Bangalore delivery location, ensuring timely alert response, service restoration and controlled execution of standard activities. Technology Scope RHEL 7/8/9, VMware ESXi/vSphere, bare-metal compute, OpenShift Virtualization/CNV, server firmware and hardware lifecycle Key Responsibilities • Linux administration, filesystem/LVM, CPU, memory, process, access and network troubleshooting. • ESXi host, cluster, maintenance mode and virtual machine operational support. • Patching, firmware, certificates, provisioning, decommissioning and BCP/DR support. • Monitor alerts, acknowledge tickets and restore services using approved runbooks. • Execute approved incidents, requests and changes with complete evidence and timely updates. • Maintain warm shift handovers and coordinate with application, infrastructure, vendor and customer teams. • Participate in major incidents, BCP/DR exercises, problem management and knowledge-base updates. Required Experience and Skills • 3-6 years of relevant enterprise production-support experience. • Hands-on expertise in at least one primary technology and working knowledge of adjacent technologies listed in the scope. • Strong incident, request, change, escalation and documentation discipline in a 24x7 environment. Tooling, Automation and Reliability • ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM, Jira, monitoring dashboards, operational runbooks and knowledge repositories. • Observability, alert correlation, capacity reporting and SLA/KPI-based operations. • Basic scripting and safe execution of approved automation. Education and Certifications • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent practical experience. • RHCSA/RHCE, VMware VCP or Red Hat OpenShift certification preferred. Behavioural Competencies • Clear written and verbal communication. • Structured troubleshooting and ownership through closure. • Collaboration across technical, vendor and business teams. • Willingness to work from Bangalore in 24x7 rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays as required. Screening Guidance • Validate recent hands-on production support, not only implementation exposure. • Use scenario-based screening for troubleshooting, controlled change, escalation and communication. • Confirm practical depth in the primary skill and realistic coverage of adjacent technologies.
