Optometrist – Job Description (Aditi opticals) Position: Optometrist Location: Aditi opticals ,Narasingapuram,Attur ,Salem Department: Retail / Eye Care Job Type: Full-Time Role Summary The Optometrist is responsible for providing accurate eye testing, delivering high-quality customer service, recommending suitable lenses & frames, and supporting store sales. The role includes both clinical eye examination and retail responsibilities. Key Responsibilities 1. Eye Testing & Clinical Care • Conduct accurate refraction tests using manual and automated equipment. • Perform vision assessment for all age groups. • Identify common eye conditions like myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia, astigmatism. • Recommend suitable corrective solutions – single vision, bifocal, progressive, blue-cut, photochromic, polycarbonate lenses, etc. • Maintain records of prescriptions and patient history. 2. Customer Service & Consultation • Explain eye test results to customers in simple language. • Recommend lens types based on lifestyle (computer use, driving, kids, senior citizens, etc.). • Assist customers in frame selection – size, material, style, and comfort. • Ensure a pleasant customer experience inside the store. 3. Sales Support • Promote premium lenses like Crizal, Essilor, Zeiss, Nikon, Blu-cut, ARC lenses. • Achieve monthly sales targets for lenses, frames, and contact lenses. • Coordinate with sales staff for cross-selling and upselling. 4. Contact Lens Fitting • Conduct trial fitting for soft & toric contact lenses. • Educate customers on lens care, usage, hygiene, and follow-up schedules. 5. Store Operations • Manage and maintain eye-testing equipment (AR machine, lensometer, trial set). • Ensure cleanliness and professional setup of the testing room. • Support inventory management for optical products. 6. Compliance & Safety • Follow optical retail standards, customer safety protocols, and store guidelines. • Ensure every prescription meets legal and optical quality standards. Skills & Qualifications • Diploma / B.Optom / M.Optom in Optometry. • Minimum 1–3 years experience in optical retail (freshers with strong skills also considered). • Good communication skills in English + Local Language (Tamil preferred). • Strong knowledge of frames, lenses, coatings, and optical measurements. • Customer-friendly, sales-oriented, and professional appearance.
