Operate acetylene generators using calcium carbide and water reaction systems. Monitor gas production parameters such as pressure, temperature, and flow rate. Control gas purification units to remove impurities like phosphine and hydrogen sulfide. Manage gas compression systems to safely compress acetylene into cylinders. Inspect and maintain gas cylinders for leaks, corrosion, and valve integrity. Perform gas quality testing using chemical or chromatographic methods. Calibrate and maintain instrumentation such as pressure gauges and flow meters. Operate SCADA/DCS systems for real-time process control and monitoring. Conduct preventive maintenance on generators, compressors, and pipelines. Handle emergency shutdown procedures in case of leaks or overpressure. Ensure proper storage of calcium carbide in dry, ventilated areas. Check water seal levels in generators to prevent backfire or flashback. Coordinate with quality control teams for batch release and documentation. Follow SOPs and work permits for all high-risk operations and maintenance tasks.
