As a Lead Electrical Engineer within the Surveillance product line at Acron Aviation, your primary focus will be on developing TCAS and transponder radios. You will be responsible for owning the electrical engineering discipline throughout the entire lifecycle of the product, from initial concept generation to design, qualification, and lifecycle management. Your role will involve collaborating with business development and all engineering functions to ensure that the requirements for top-level product development are effectively translated into specific technical areas of electrical engineering. You will work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to plan, design, prototype, and test avionics transponders, RF, and sensor-based systems. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and ensure that the Surveillance product line adheres to industry best practices for product development. Your design focus will encompass surveillance avionics for Air Transport, General Aviation, and emerging platforms like Urban Air Mobility (UAM) eVTOL aircraft. Key Responsibilities: - Conceptualize, design, integrate, and qualify digital, analog, and power circuitry in the avionics domain. - Design circuits incorporating microprocessors, memory, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, high-speed busses, and various avionics interfaces. - Proficient in electrical schematic generation, CAD layout review (preferably with Altium), and documentation generation. - Generate design documents such as HRDs, HDDs, HCIAs, and certification documents like PHACs. - Participate in proposal processes for programs with electrical engineering requirements by estimating tasks, identifying risks, and planning development. - Communicate effectively across multiple technical teams and directly with customers to understand problems and offer actionable solutions. Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience; or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of related experience. - Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in an engineering discipline with systems engineering principles. - Hands-on experience in designing and developing avionics products, RF, or sensor systems. - Working knowledge of at least one software language (python or C++ desirable). - Proven experience implementing value engineering, lean practices, automation, and AI to reduce cost and cycle time. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, operations, and manufacturing to deliver innovative products to customers. Supporting senior engineers in detailed analysis, documentation, tests, and simulations will also be part of your role.
