We are looking for a hands-on Accounts Manager to manage day-to-day accounts, follow up on customer payments, coordinate supplier payments, prepare monthly payroll, and oversee statutory compliance for our packaging business.

Key responsibilities

Sales accounting and customer collections

* Record sales invoices, customer receipts, credit notes, and adjustments. Maintain accurate customer ledgers and allocate receipts against the correct invoices.

* Prepare debtor ageing reports and follow up with customers by phone and email for overdue payments.

* Track promised payment dates, reconcile customer balances, and coordinate with the sales team to resolve invoice and payment disputes.

Purchase accounting and supplier payments

* Verify purchase bills against purchase orders and goods receipt notes before posting entries.

* Maintain supplier ledgers and record debit notes, advances, and payment adjustments.

* Reconcile supplier statements, prepare payment schedules, and process payments after approval.

Banking, petty cash, and daily accounts

* Record receipts, payments, journal entries, and daily expenses.

* Handle petty cash, verify vouchers and supporting bills, and reconcile the physical cash balance.

* Prepare bank reconciliations, investigate differences, and maintain organised accounting records.

* Track expected collections and upcoming payments to support cash flow planning.

Salary preparation and payroll

* Verify attendance, leave, overtime, incentives, advances, and deductions before preparing monthly salaries.

* Prepare salary sheets and payslips, coordinate approved salary transfers, and post payroll entries.

* Maintain confidential payroll records and prepare full-and-final settlement calculations when required.

GST, TDS, PF, and other compliance

* Reconcile GST records with sales and purchase books, review input tax credit, and coordinate return filing.

* Check applicable TDS deductions, reconcile TDS ledgers, and coordinate deposits, returns, and certificates.

* Prepare PF and, where applicable, ESI and Professional Tax workings. Coordinate filings and payments and track statutory deadlines.

* Coordinate with the company’s Chartered Accountant and auditors, provide supporting records, and follow up on pending items.

Month-end closing and management reporting

* Review ledgers and reconcile customer, supplier, bank, and statutory balances before month-end closing.

* Prepare monthly reports on collections, overdue receivables, supplier dues, expenses, and cash flow.

* Assist with stock reconciliation and coordinate with the purchase, production, and dispatch teams to resolve billing or stock discrepancies.

* Prepare schedules and supporting documents for year-end finalisation and audits.

Candidate requirements

* B.Com, M.Com, or an equivalent qualification in accounting or finance.

* Hands-on experience independently handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, payroll, and statutory compliance.

* Proficiency in Tally Prime or similar accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

* Ability to communicate clearly with customers and suppliers and follow up consistently on pending payments.

* Experience in manufacturing, packaging, or a similar B2B business is preferred.
