Strong understanding of game design principles: mechanics, systems, level design, game loops, balance, and player psychology Hands on experience with the Unity editor: scenes, prefabs, components, colliders, basic lighting, and simple scripting or visual scripting Ability to create and communicate design ideas through documents, diagrams, wireframes, and in engine prototypes Good analytical skills for interpreting player feedback and metrics to refine designs Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with developers, artists, and production Conceptualize and design core game mechanics, systems, and moment to moment gameplay in Unity Create and iterate on level designs, including maps, challenges, enemy/obstacle placement, and progression Build and tune prototypes inside Unity to test mechanics, balance, and player experience Write and maintain clear game design documentation (GDDs, flowcharts, level specs, economy/balance sheets) Collaborate with Unity Developers to ensure mechanics and systems are implemented as designed and technically feasible Work with artists, UX/UI designers, and sound designers to align visuals, interface, and audio with gameplay goals Conduct playtests, gather feedback and analytics, and iterate on features, levels, and balance to improve engagement and retention Ensure that all designed content fits the project s creative vision, constraints, and production schedule
