Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings for prototypes, molds, and tooling. Collaborate with project teams to understand customer requirements and provide design solutions. Perform DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and feasibility analysis for mold and prototype projects. Work closely with manufacturing, CNC, and mold-making teams to ensure design intent is met. Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials), assembly drawings, and part drawings with GD&T. Support prototyping methods (3D printing, CNC machining, vacuum casting, etc.). Conduct mold flow analysis and other design validation processes. Participate in design reviews and suggest improvements for cost, quality, and lead time. Maintain engineering documentation, revision history, and standards. Ensure compliance with ISO, ASME, or industry standards. Work on continuous improvement in product design and manufacturing processes. NX Software
Process Design & Optimization Analyze existing manufacturing workflows (VMC, CNC, mould assembly, injection molding, etc.) and identify improvement areas. Develop and implement process improvements to reduce cycle time and scrap. Standardize machining and mould manufacturing processes (setup sheets, tool paths, quality checkpoints). Prototype & Mould Development Support Work closely with design and tool room teams to ensure manufacturability of prototypes and moulds. Recommend design changes to simplify production and assembly. Ensure quick turnaround for prototypes without compromising quality. Production Planning & Monitoring Create and maintain daily production plans with timelines for machining, assembly, and molding. Track production KPIs: machine utilization, output per shift, and downtime reasons. Implement visual dashboards or reporting systems for real-time production updates. Quality Assurance Establish in-process inspection standards for mould and part quality. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for defects and take corrective/preventive action. Ensure compliance with client quality requirements. Cost & Efficiency Management Identify opportunities to reduce tooling and machining costs. Optimize manpower allocation, material flow, and machine scheduling. Cross-Team Collaboration Coordinate with sales, design, and procurement teams to align production with customer requirements. Train operators and supervisors on process changes and best practices.Strong understanding of machining (CNC, VMC), toolroom processes, mould assembly, and plastic part production. Expertise in lean manufacturing principles, process optimization, and time studies. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (NX,). Knowledge of injection molding parameters, tool design, and material properties. Good analytical and problem-solving skills (5S, Kaizen, RCA, etc.). Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills. Qualifications:Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering. 2–5 years of experience in process engineering in mould making or plastic part manufacturing. Experience in prototype and low-volume production environments preferred.
