We are seeking a Backend Developer to join our Youtap Service Desk team. This role is ideal for a backend engineer who enjoys working close to production systems and customers, combining hands-on development with operational support to ensure stable, high-performing fintech platforms. Role Description As a Backend Developer and support specialist, you will be responsible for the design, development, support, and continuous improvement of backend services and APIs. You will provide Level 2 / Level 3 production support, working closely with engineering, DevOps, QA, and customer-facing teams to resolve incidents, support releases, and improve system reliability. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical systems, gain deep exposure to production environments, and directly influence service quality and customer outcomes. We are looking for a Database Specialist (DBA) to join our Youtap Service Desk function, helping ensure our database environments are secure, high-performing, and highly available. This role is well-suited to a DBA who enjoys working close to production systems, collaborating with engineering teams, and improving reliability through proactive monitoring and continuous optimisation. Role Description As the Database Specialist (DBA), you will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and optimisation of Youtaps database platforms. You will provide operational support for production environments, contribute to incident and problem resolution, and partner with development teams to ensure database designs and changes support performance and scalability. Key responsibilities include: Installing, configuring, and maintaining database management systems and environments Monitoring database health and performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimisations Managing database security, including access controls, permissions, and data protection measures Designing and maintaining backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes; performing recovery testing Supporting development teams with schema design, indexing strategies, and data model implementation Performing regular maintenance including patching, upgrades, and capacity planning Troubleshooting production database issues, supporting incident resolution and root cause analysis Documenting configurations, standards, and operational procedures (runbooks and troubleshooting guides) Supporting data migrations, integrations, and environment refreshes as required Requirements Qualifications: Proven experience as a Database Administrator / Database Specialist supporting production systems Strong experience with PostgreSQL (or comparable enterprise DBMS) including performance tuning and optimisation Solid understanding of backup/restore, disaster recovery concepts, and high availability principles Experience implementing database security controls (roles, privileges, auditing concepts, access management) Hands-on experience with monitoring and troubleshooting database performance and stability issues Ability to work in a Service Desk / operational support environment, managing priorities and working to SLAs Experience collaborating with developers on schema design, indexing, and query optimisation Strong documentation skills with the ability to produce clear operational playbooks and procedures Strong problem-solving capability and ability to work effectively with cross functional teams Benefits Benefits will be discussed with the suitable applicant
