ABOUT THIS ROLE: The Senior Manager, Development, based in Delhi, cultivates relationships with corporate, foundation, institutional, and individual donors to maintain and generate donations. IN THIS ROLE YOUR WILL: DONOR RELATIONS: Be responsible for donor profiling and engagement of government and national major donors (institutions, foundations, corporations and high net worth individuals) supporting WASH sector programming in India Position Water For People as a high-impact leader and innovator in the India WASH sector Customize fundraising strategies to maximize the giving potential of India based donors to achieve or surpass Water For People India’s annual revenue goal through communication with donors (emails, phone calls, in-person meetings) and direct asks for financial support Proactively identify and research new prospects and follow-up as appropriate Create and utilize tools for donor on-boarding, retention and re-engagement of lapsed donors Build long-term trusting relationships through personalized acknowledgements to donors after renewing their commitments to Water For People Operationalize the fundraising portfolio defining the areas of required investment, key performance indicators and milestones and projected growth of income. Work closely with Water For People’s USA-based fundraisers to coordinate on international fundraising efforts and ensure internal processes are followed including the global grants management process Work closely with senior leadership and programs teams for proposal, presentation, and report development Participate in conferences and/or speaking engagements to increase Water For People exposure and research or meet new prospects. Support coordination of national and international donor visits to the Water For People India office or project sites Demonstrate a culture of philanthropy across the organization and peer leadership within the Major Gifts team and the India Country Program Track and record all donor details, meetings, interactions and prospect research on a weekly basis and regularly monitor account progress through the donor pipeline. COMMUNICATION: Lead the planning, development and execution of a fundraising and communications strategy, aligned to Water For People – India’s country strategy. Continue to build on the brand recognition to further increase awareness and understanding of Water For People’s work and its mission among multi-disciplinary stakeholders Manage and execute communications strategy to build awareness about Water for People’s mission, program approaches, achievements and learning from our work. Lead PR and media initiatives, including working with the PR firm as needed, to increase Water For People’s share of voice in the WASH sector The position will work closely with the senior leadership to plan external representation in coordination and consultation. As a member of the Global Leadership Team (GLT), the COO will pioneer this new position and help drive strategic initiatives on staff localization and decision-making at the most local level possible. In This Role You Will Financial Oversight Oversee and provide support to the Sr. Director of Finance on global financial management Ensure the quality of internal controls and processes to obtain accurate financial information and reports and to optimize our budgets. Define the organization’s financial strategy and summarize the financial implications of business alternatives to GLT and Board of Directors. Proactively conduct analyses to provide useful financial insights to the GLT to help make decisions to execute Water For People’s business strategy through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations. Partner with the Treasurer and the Board Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee on budgets, financial reporting, auditing, risk management, analysis, and actions. Provide leadership for building a more sustainable financial model, including maximization of cost recovery. Global Influence Oversee and provide support to the Director of Policy, Advocacy and Partnership and provide support on organizational influence and partnerships to achieve the global impact pathway objectives of our Destination 2030 strategy. In collaboration with the Regional Directors and Department Directors, ensure technical support is provided to country programs on national systems strengthening impact activities, and on the pursuit and implementation of funding opportunities, as requested. You Will Excel In This Role If You Have Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, Law, or equivalent work experience At least 10 years of senior leadership experience overseeing a combination of areas that might include finance, programs, operations, administration, and compliance in an international development organization At least 5 years of work experience physically located in Latin America, Africa, or Asia in an international development organization. At least 5 years of experience collaborating with a Chief Development Officer or similar role around a combination of revenue tracking, revenue projection, budgeting, and grant management activities.
