Job Description

Position: VMC Machine Operator
Department: Production / Manufacturing

Job Summary

A VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Machine Operator is responsible for setting, operating, and monitoring VMC machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate VMC machines as per daily production plans.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, job cards, and process sheets.
• Select and install cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
• Set tool offsets, work offsets, and adjust machine parameters.
• Monitor machining operations and make necessary corrections.
• Inspect machined parts using Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, etc.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish as per standards.
• Perform basic program editing (G-Code/M-Code) when required.
• Maintain daily production logs and reports.
• Clean and maintain machine tools, tools, and working area.
• Identify tool wear, breakage, and machine problems and report immediately.
• Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience operating VMC machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, and machining processes.
• Understanding of G-Code/M-Code and basic CNC programming.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Problem-solving and machine-setting skills.

Qualifications

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Machinist, Fitter, Turner, or related fields.
• 1–3 years of experience in VMC operation (Freshers with training can apply).
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM is an added advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From ₹15,000.00 per month
