Role Overview: As a Trainee Medical Coder (HCC), your role will involve assigning accurate ICD-10-CM codes to medical diagnoses based on physician documentation. This ensures the use of appropriate codes for risk adjustment and the health of the patient. You will review patient charts, documentation, and medical records to ensure that all relevant diagnoses are captured and coded. Conducting audits of medical records and claims to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding standards and regulations will also be a key responsibility. Supporting the billing department by ensuring accurate diagnosis codes are included in claims to avoid denials and ensure proper reimbursement is crucial. Your role will also involve ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
