Technical Lead Backend / Payments

Role Overview: As an experienced Systems Architect, your role will involve designing systems for high availability, low-latency routing, and ensuring robust transaction pipelines. You will be responsible for end-to-end transaction lifecycle management, compliance with security standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive engineering excellence. Key Responsibilities: - Architect systems for high availability, low-latency routing, retries, idempotency, and reconciliation. - Own end-to-end transaction lifecycle including authorization, capture, refunds, settlements, and chargebacks. - Build robust transaction pipelines with monitoring, alerting, fraud detection hooks, and circuit breakers. - Optimize backend services for performance, cost, observability, and reliability. - Implement best practices for tokenization, encryption, and secure key management. - Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines, KYC flows, audit logs, data privacy, and regulatory requirements. - Collaborate with product, finance, risk, compliance, and customer support teams. - Work with data, analytics, and fraud teams to build transaction insights and ML-based risk models. - Mentor backend engineers and drive engineering excellence in the team. Qualification Required: - Solid programming skills in any backend language. - Hands-on experience with Microservices architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, message queues/streams (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, Celery), SQL and NoSQL databases. - Strong understanding of idempotency, retries, ordering, distributed locks, high-performance transactional systems, and event-driven architectures. - Basic Knowledge of services on cloud such as Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch. - Preferred understanding of fraud detection systems, rule engines, velocity checks, reconciliation systems, and ledger systems. - Exposure to fintech, OTT, e-commerce, or high-volume consumer apps. - Proficiency in backend: Python(Django/Flask/FastAPI), streaming: Kafka, SQS, Celery, databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB/DocumentDB, Redis, version control: Git. - Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
