The Project Manager for Ship Building will be responsible for end-to-end management of Ship Building projects within the shipyard, reporting to the Head of Planning & Project Management. The Project Manager is tasked with driving successful project execution from initiation through completion by coordinating various commercial, engineering, production, and support functions. This position focuses on ensuring project alignment with the overall business objectives of the shipyard, fostering collaboration across teams, and delivering on client and organizational expectations for Ship Building projects. Responsibilities Project Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, schedule, and resource allocation. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and subcontractors. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among team members to achieve project objectives. Budget Management: Prepare and manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial accountability. Identify and address potential cost overruns and implement corrective actions. Change Order Management: Develop and implement processes for managing change orders in projects. Ensure all changes are documented, evaluated for impact, and approved by relevant stakeholders. Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients. Maintain strong relationships, provide regular updates, and address any concerns or changes in project scope. Quality, Health, Safety and Environment: Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure all work meets industry standards and client specifications. Conduct regular inspections and audits of repair work. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and incidents. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle. Adjust plans as necessary to address unforeseen issues. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all repair activities comply with local, national, and international maritime regulations and standards. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and final project deliverables. Provide regular status updates to senior management and clients. Continuous Improvement: Conduct a post-project review to evaluate the project's success and identify areas for improvement. Document and implement lessons learned from completed projects to improve processes and outcomes for future projects. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree in Project Management or an MBA is an added advantage. PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification is preferred. Preferred Experience: 10+ years of experience in project management within a Ship Building or manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. Proven track record in handling large-scale engineering projects, managing cross-functional teams, and working in a complex, fast-paced environment. Functional Competency: Project Management Expertise: Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management. Technical Acumen: In-depth understanding of Ship Building processes, material requirements, and production workflows. Role Overview The General Manager – Finance & Accounts will lead and manage all financial, accounting, compliance, and audit-related activities at the shipyard. The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on expertise to ensure robust financial governance, timely reporting, and effective support to the senior management team in achieving business goals. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & Management Support Provide critical financial insights and support to the CEO and CFO to help achieve organizational and business goals. Offer financial concurrence on commercial proposals, including purchase orders and work orders. Support bidding processes by providing financial data, evaluating cost implications, and validating bid proposals. Develop the Finance, Accounts, Taxation, and Compliance teams by identifying training needs, enhancing competencies, and motivating talent to meet future organizational requirements. 2. Financial Accounting & Operations Management Oversee the end-to-end functioning of the Finance & Accounts department at the shipyard. Ensure accurate and timely accounting of income, expenses, inventory, and fixed assets. Manage and monitor smooth banking operations, including timely fund transfers between the shipyard and Mumbai. Implement effective payment controls and ensure adherence to governance practices across the department. 3. Budgeting, Costing & Project Control Prepare the Company’s Annual Budget and conduct regular reviews of project budgets. Provide guidance and support in costing, budgeting activities, and resource planning. 4. Audit, Internal Controls & Governance Ensure timely completion of statutory audits of shipyard operations. Facilitate internal audits (in-house and external), including implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Strengthen internal financial controls (IFCs) and maintain proper documentation. Establish and sustain strong maker–checker mechanisms to minimize audit observations in pre-audit, internal audit, statutory audit, and ISO audit processes. 5. Reporting, MIS & Systems Develop and refine MIS reports according to management requirements. Review all MIS reports before submission to senior leadership. Approve WOs/POs within SAP as per authorization limits defined by management. Develop and implement department manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all accounting-related activities. 6. Taxation, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Ensure accurate and timely filing of indirect tax returns and manage related litigation effectively. Ensure compliance with EOU & SEZ requirements, including timely filing of returns, obtaining approvals, and managing litigation. Ensure compliance with all applicable commercial laws, such as Taxation Laws, Companies Act, FEMA, and others as applicable. Manage interactions with bankers, lenders, and various regulatory authorities during visits and audits. Qualifications & Experience Chartered Accountant (CA) with a strong academic and professional background. Minimum 14+ years of post-qualification experience in Finance, Accounts, Audit, Taxation, and Compliance. Hands-on experience working in SAP (FICO and related modules) , including workflow approvals, financial controls, and reporting.
