Job Overview:

The Student / Academic Counsellor plays a crucial role in the study abroad division by providing accurate and reliable information about international courses, top study destinations, admission opportunities at reputed universities and colleges, intake periods, visa procedures, and documentation requirements. The counsellor’s guidance and timely communication greatly influence the success of each student’s overseas education journey.

Key Areas of Responsibility

1. Student Counselling

  • Provide personalized counselling sessions to students based on their academic background, career aspirations, financial capacity, and preferred destinations.
  • Guide students in selecting suitable study destinations, universities, and programs that align with their interests and qualifications.
  • Address student inquiries with detailed and accurate information, offering well-informed advice to help them make the right decisions.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and approachable attitude while interacting with students and parents.

2. Targets & Registrations

  • Consistently achieve or exceed daily, weekly, monthly, and annual counselling and registration targets using effective communication and counselling strategies.
  • Encourage clients to participate in webinars, expos, events, and virtual sessions to increase awareness and registration opportunities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of all major study destinations, academic programs, eligibility criteria, and the cultural and immigration regulations of various countries to enhance success rates.

3. Calls & Follow-ups

  • Ensure a minimum of 50 connected calls per day to maximize productivity and reach potential students effectively.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with all inquiries and registered clients to maintain strong engagement and ensure a smooth process until admission or visa completion.
  • Maintain consistent and clear communication with students to strengthen trust and long-term relationships.

4. Lead Generation

  • Use your expertise, creativity, and communication skills to generate quality leads and attract potential students.
  • Contribute actively to promotional initiatives such as preparing content for course promotions, organizing webinars, developing video/reel scripts, and coordinating in-house expos or marketing events.
  • Collaborate with schools and colleges to conduct presentations, awareness programs, and information sessions to generate direct leads.

5. Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Prepare and update daily, weekly, and monthly reports accurately and submit them before 5 PM every day.
  • Maintain updated records of leads, registration status, client documentation, and share the necessary reports with the concerned departments within the defined TAT (Turnaround Time).
  • Keep organized documentation of all relevant information such as client data, course details, fee structures, and bookmarked website links for easy reference and follow-up.

6. Research & Knowledge Enhancement

  • Stay updated with the latest developments in the global education industry, including new courses, open/closed intakes, scholarships, visa policies, and other important updates.
  • Research competitor activities, emerging markets, and business strategies to strengthen personal and organizational performance.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and development sessions to enhance counselling and market knowledge.

7. Participation & Support

  • Actively participate in all events organized by the branch, including webinars, in-house expos, seminars, delegate meetings, training sessions, and team discussions.
  • Provide assistance and coordination support during these events to ensure smooth execution and better visibility for the organization.

8. Team / Branch Meetings

  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly review meetings as scheduled by the branch or management.
  • Be prepared to share progress updates, discuss challenges, and present future plans during these meetings.
  • Participate in morning and evening briefing sessions with the Branch Manager (BM) to discuss daily goals, updates, and key action points.

9. Walk-ins / Virtual Counselling

  • Generate and handle a minimum of 10–20 successful walk-ins per month, ensuring each enquiry is managed professionally and converted effectively.
  • Conduct virtual counselling sessions for clients who are unable to visit the branch in person, providing equal support and guidance through online platforms.

10. Branch Visits / Lead Calls

  • Visit allocated Medcity Academy branches regularly to collect leads and interact directly with students.
  • Maintain regular follow-up calls with the leads received from branches to build strong and trustworthy relationships with students, CROs, and academic coordinators.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal teams to ensure proper lead management and student conversion.

Qualifications / Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in education, international relations, business, or a related field.

Experience in counseling or student services, especially in the context of international education.

(Min 2- 5 years) preferred
