Job Description

Position Responsibilities Ø Receive patients into the intensive care unit and quickly go through patients notes to determine medical issues. Ø Assess patients to determine the intensity of disease or trauma and create nursing care plans to meet his or her specific requirements. Ø Assist doctors in performing medical and diagnostic procedures. Ø Monitor patient’s physical status such as vitals and cardiac activity. Ø Perform emergency nursing procedures. Ø Assess patients individual care needs and chart out care plans to meet those needs. Ø Take and record vitals in regular intervals. Ø Evaluate and interpret diagnostic tests. Ø Respond immediately to life saving situations. Ø Administer fluids and injections in accordance to treatment plans. Ø Monitor and adjust specialized equipment. Ø Make necessary changes in patient care plan in accordance to patients varying needs. Ø Perform necessary physical examinations. Ø Educate patients and provide emotional support. Ø Take and record patient’s histories. Ø Asses pain levels of patients to determine need for sedation. Ø Collect specimens for laboratory tests. Ø Document findings on patient’s assessments. Ø Ensure that all equipment is running smoothly and handle any malfunctions. Ø Provide families and patients with information on how to deal with illnesses and injuries. Ø Facilitate the discharge procedure by ensuring that all information in relayed to the head nurse and the accounts departments. Ø Conduct post-procedural monitoring, check for any other post-procedure complications. Ø Implement and monitor care plans for patients with various cardiac conditions, including but not limited to cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, or any hemodynamically unstable patients requiring pressors. Ø Set up, regulate and maintain life-saving or life-maintenance equipment such as ventilators, and record patient’s responses in an accurate manner. Ø Communicate with patients and doctors regarding the post operational state and recovery of the subject. Ø Assist in rehabilitation exercises, medication and dressings. Ø Maintain charts of surgical patients from the time of admission till discharge and administer medication accordingly. Ø Ensure compliance with the standard nursing care procedures. Ø Conduct rounds and monitor all patients in the assigned area. Ø Assist resident patients in daily life activities. Ø Prepare and administer medication according to treatment plan. Ø Communicate any observed changes effectively to the concerned doctors. Ø Coordinate staff meetings and training's. Ø Initiate patient education plans to teach both patients and their families how to manage their illnesses and injuries. Ø Monitor catheters, leads and tubing to ensure proper placement and functioning. Ø Provide information regarding post-treatment home-care needs, including diet and nutrition and exercise programs. Ø Record all nursing care information in a precise and accurate manner and by following appropriate formats and forms.
