Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer Foundry Tools / Pattern to design and develop patterns, cores, moulds, and tooling used in foundry and casting operations. The role requires close collaboration with production, machining, and quality teams to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality tooling solutions. Key Responsibilities Design and develop patterns, cores, moulds, and tooling for foundry and casting applications. Create detailed CAD drawings, 3D models, and tooling layouts using industry-standard software. Interpret cast component drawings and convert requirements into effective tooling designs. Ensure compliance with foundry process requirements including shrinkage allowance, draft angles, gating, and riser systems. Collaborate with production, machining, and finishing teams to optimize designs for manufacturability, quality, and cost efficiency. Support tooling validation during production trials and troubleshoot casting or tooling-related issues. Modify tooling designs based on production feedback, defects, or process deviations. Maintain complete design documentation, tool change records, SOPs, and ensure adherence to quality standards. Stay updated on latest foundry tooling technologies, materials, and best design practices; recommend process improvements. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Tool & Die / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent. 2–10 years of experience in tooling or pattern design within the foundry/casting industry (experience flexible based on capability). Strong understanding of foundry tooling principles including pattern design, mould making, core design, gating & riser systems, casting defects, and shrinkage factors. Proficiency in CAD/3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or AutoCAD. Good knowledge of machining processes, heat treatment, tooling materials, and production workflows. Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects within timelines. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and adaptability in a manufacturing environment. Preferred / Nice to Have Experience in automotive casting, heavy engineering, or high-volume foundry tooling. Working knowledge of ISO standards. Exposure to tooling costing, lead-time optimization, and process improvement initiatives.
