Sourcing Specialist/ Buyer/ Procurement manager

Esson Pharma, part of the EssGen group, is looking for a Sourcing Specialist to join our team in Powai, Mumbai. In this role, you will find and buy lab chemicals, reagents, reference standards, impurities and columns for our pharma clients. You will handle a high number of requests every month and work with suppliers in India, Europe and China. Speed matters here: the faster we find the right product at the right price, the more business we win. You will work closely with our logistics team, so this is a work-from-office role.

Role & responsibilities

• Handle incoming requests from our sales team quickly and accurately
• Find the right product and supplier, and get the price, lead time and availability
• Compare offers and negotiate better prices and terms
• Build and keep a supplier and price database up to date
• Find new brands and suppliers
• Work with the logistics team on shipment planning, packaging and documents
• Keep clear records and reports

Preferred candidate profile

• 2+ years in sourcing or procurement of lab chemicals, reagents, reference standards, impurities or columns
• Good knowledge of brands, manufacturers and authorised distributors in this market
• Understanding of international logistics processes and restrictions: export and import steps, shipping documents, rules for shipping chemicals and export controls
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Good spoken and written English
• Good Excel skills; ERP experience is a plus
• Able to work fast and handle many requests at the same time
• Graduate; a science background is preferred
• Based in Mumbai, with a manageable commute to Powai

• Experience in a pharma R&D lab sourcing team
• Experience with international suppliers or imports
